Six Months of Sweetness: A Smash to Remember
Can you believe it? Six months ago, we welcomed this little bundle of joy into our lives, and somehow, she’s already halfway to a year. Time is such a strange thing as a parent—It’s amazing to think that just six months ago, she was this tiny, squishy newborn—and now, it feels like she’s always been a part of our world, filling it with moments that make time both stand still and fly by.
To celebrate this big milestone, we decided to do a cake smash photoshoot, because nothing says “celebration” quite like giving your baby free rein with a dessert. And let me tell you, she didn’t hesitate for a second. With all the confidence in the world, she dove right into that delicious carrot cake like she was born for this moment. Her expression was one of sheer delight, and it was everything we’d hoped for and more.
And finally—FINALLY—I got a chance to sit down and edit my very own daughter’s cake smash photos. Life as a mother of two and a photographer is beautifully chaotic—it’s rare to find time for personal projects like this, but moments like these make it all worthwhile. Each image captured a piece of her joy and innocence, and I found myself tearing up as I worked through them. Seeing her bright smile brought tears of joy to this mama, as I thought of every little thing we’ve been through. It also reminded me of my firstborn, Phoenix, and how he is already a big 5-year-old.
Phoenix was such a big help during the session—not only keeping his sister entertained but also bringing out her biggest smiles, even brighter than the delicious cake! Watching these two together—their bond growing stronger every day—is an incredible feeling I’ll cherish forever.
This wasn’t just about her—it was about us, too. About surviving the newborn days, learning as we go, and cherishing every single “first” along the way. This cake smash was our little way of saying, “We’ve made it this far, and what a beautiful journey it’s been.”
